Our Fabulous Silkies!!!
Of ALL of our chickens, our silkies are our very favorite. Between their amazing personalities, and their fabulous looks, they are a flock must have on any farm!!!
The Silkie is considered a bantam chicken (smaller fowl) with 5 toes. Because of their gentle and docile nature, they make wonderful pets and adapt quickly to attention and handling by people.
Since the American Silkie is a bantam (small breed) the eggs are not large – about medium in size ranging in colors from white to light brown. They typically lay at a rate of about 100 eggs per year.
Our silkie flock consists of a gorgeous Splash Showgirl Roo, with BBS (blue, black, and splash) hens that have standard and smooth satin feather patterns. All of our silkies have
black skin, beards, blue earlobes, walnut combs, fifth toes and feathered feet. Eggs from this flock have the possibility of hatching both feather patterns as well as showgirls.
If you are looking for one color specifically, we encourage you to order chicks instead of hatching eggs, as we will be hatching all spring and we will do our best to provide you with what you are looking for. But if you would enjoy the surprise of not knowing what you will get, these are so much fun! When we hatch them, it is always an extremely exciting hatch, with each egg being a surprise!!

Eggs are sold straight run meaning we cannot guarantee the gender. Each chick has a 50/50 chance of being male or female.
